Timepost Gets Noticed
At Studiobanks, we use Basecamp extensively to manage projects. The setback to Basecamp being the application requires us to log project time manually. We previously used DesignSoft's Stopwatch and TimeSheet Manager for its timer feature, but this did not solve said issue.
About two months ago, I began looking into the option of building a simple desktop timer application that would log time directly to our Basecamp account. I found a guy named Mark Davis that runs a Mac software development company, Colovo, and we contracted him to develop the application for us. Once he really started to see the need for this application, he asked us if he could market the application and retain the rights, instead of us paying him the contracted fees. We were happy that he was taking personal interest in the idea, because we knew it would produce a better product.
The finished product is named Timepost. It was recently recognized by 37signals, as they placed Timepost on their extras page, which highlights some of the best third-party applications that work with Basecamp.
Thus far, Timepost has worked out great for us. It accurately and quickly logs our time directly into Basecamp. It eliminates extra software from our workflow and we can track our company’s time in Basecamp, the same place we manage our projects. Way to go, Mark!
